Derek Kaufman - Founder and CEO

Derek Kaufman

Founder and CEO

Derek Kaufman is Founder and CEO of the Inclusive Abundance Initiative (IAI). IAI builds on Mr. Kaufman’s previous policy work in areas ranging from the Child Tax Credit in the American Rescue Plan to the Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs in the CHIPS and Science Act.

His prior career in finance included serving as Head of Global Fixed Income at the hedge fund Citadel and as Global Head of Fixed Income in the Proprietary Positioning Business at JPMorgan Chase. He was a member of the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets.

He is currently on the Boards of Third Way, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and the Constructive Dialogue Institute, on the Advisory Council of the Sadie Collective, and on the Leadership Council of the Robin Hood Foundation.

Mr. Kaufman received a bachelor’s degree in Applied Math/Economics from Harvard College.

Leigh O'Neill - Chief Strategy and Operations Officer

Leigh O'Neill

Chief Strategy and Operations Officer

Leigh O’Neill is the Chief Strategy and Operations Officer at the Inclusive Abundance Initiative. Previously, she was Senior Director for Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Programs at Bloomberg Philanthropies, where she oversaw investments in leadership programming for global mayors at the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard. She also served as Chief of Staff for Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Government Innovation portfolio.

Prior to philanthropy, Leigh served as Managing Director for Policy and Legislative Affairs at the Truman National Security Project and served on the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, assisting the Professional Staff for the Middle East. She was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to study the impact of free trade on sustainable economic development in Jordan and has participated in three international election observation missions in Jordan (2010) and Lebanon (2009 & 2022).

She received a bachelor’s degree in Classical Studies from Boston College and Master of Arts degree in American Foreign Policy and International Economics from SAIS at Johns Hopkins University. Leigh is a proud Boston native and lifelong Red Sox fan.

Joshua Seawell - Head of Policy

Joshua Seawell

Head of Policy

Joshua Seawell is the Head of Policy at IAI. He previously worked at The Bridgespan Group, where he advised philanthropic and nonprofit clients; the think tank Employ America, where he supported political strategy on nominations among other work; and BerlinRosen, where he supported impact-driven clients on communications strategy and strategy execution.

He continues to support Employ America as a member of its Board. Joshua received a bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies with honors from Stanford University, with a minor in Political Science. He received a Master in Public Affairs degree from SPIA at Princeton University. Joshua resides in Los Angeles.

Kevin Lo - Senior Advisor

Kevin Lo

Senior Advisor

Kevin Lo is a Senior Advisor at IAI. Previously, he was the Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Before joining the White House in January 2021, Kevin worked on a number of federal political campaigns across the country. Outside of politics and policy, he has also worked in professional sports and food, including as the COO of Brigaid—a start-up aimed at rethinking institutional food. Despite his passion for sports and food though, Kevin always found himself drawn back to the broad potential impact of politics and policy.

He was born in Taiwan, grew up in southern California, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Government, with a minor in Business Administration, from Georgetown University.
